Exploring Indonesia's Cultural Diversity at TMII: An Overview of the Renovations and Upcoming Eid Al-Fitr Even

JAKARTA, RADARKAUR.CO.ID - Indonesia is practically dripping with culture. People can start traveling through Indonesia and in every passing city feel the uniqueness of every city all the way till the end. Needless to say that is a good thing, but that does not necessarily mean it is always the case. Not just about everyone can actually do the exploring even though they are interested. Fortunately, there is an alternative to that and that is TMII. 

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or more widely known as TMII is the place where the cultural diversity of the whole of Indonesia gets put together and be on display for the public. 

It’s been more than four decades since its first-ever opening and since then, it never went through renovations. Not even once. They finally did it last year in January. It took them a couple of months and the wait is finally over. The work is not fully done just yet but they already made it open to the public.

The part that has been done is actually the first phase of the three-phased plan they devised. The first phase is mainly focused on the infrastructure.

They renovated a couple of museums and joglos and rearrange the main building, parking area, and the outer ring.

While the second phase mainly focused on revitalizing and upgrading the rides gradually.

The third phase however is a bit different than the rest because the focus here is to commercialize the area.

After being open to the public for a while now, TMII is going to hold an event this Eid holiday.

According to the Executive Vice President of TMII, Claudia Ingkiriwang. The event is called “Dendang Riang Lebaran” and it’s going to be held for ten days starting from Eid al-Fitr.

"The word ‘Dendang’ was deliberately taken to bring back vintage memories or the past Dendang is sometimes associated with a celebration and celebration, something to be happy about," said Claudia.
